No more treatments for a while.....

Well, today was a visit with the oncologist. They discussed Mom feeling so crummy last week. The dr really wants to continue with the same chemotherapy.... xeloda and oxaliplatin. She said that she will make some changes to the xeloda though. Probably one week on, one week off and so on. The dr did say that Mom could just go into a "wait" phase for a while. Mom totally agreed!!! The dr said that she has many patients who are just waiting to see what will happen with their cancer, and when it gets to a more critical point they will continue treatment. Mom loved that idea! She goes back in May for a ct scan and then will see the dr the next week. If the lymph nodes have grown they will continue with treatment, if not they will continue to wait.
When this all started I can't imgaine not going full force with the treatment, but after seeing what the treatment can do to people, I can see why people don't want to do it. The dr said that treatments are the second leading cause of death with cancer patients.... that really made me think. Mom said that she thought that she might die when she was so sick last week. That is no way to have to live.
